Tecno RS2 Seating System

One of the most relevant company of high-end Italian design and excellent player in the contract furnishings sector, Tecno presents RS2, the seating system for waiting areas inspired by the successful RS designed in 1995 by Jean-Marie Duthilleul of Studio AREP for SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français). A highly appreciated product which has been placed in the most important international public areas such as Amsterdam (Schipol), Hong Kong and Paris (Charles de Gaulle) airports and Italian, British, French, Belgian, Austrian and Spanish railway stations. This innovative product is a system with individual seats fixed on double bars. It can be used both indoors and outdoors, depending on the finishes. This highly versatile project offers three different types of seating: the modular bench with backrest, the modular bench without backrest, both types with or without armrests, fixed to the floor or with a movable base, and the “sit up perch” for short term waits.

Strong by its expertise Tecno, once again, confirms its leading position in the sector achieved also with its interpretation of the European standard STI 2008/164/C issued for people with reduced mobility. Tecno has built into the system's structure an obstacle signal bar for the visually impaired. Moreover, from a “long term” users standpoint, Tecno has enlarged the seat, enhancing its ergonomic features to ensure the utmost comfort during long waits. Cutting edge communication devices have turned waiting areas into temporary offices; hence, aware of this revolution, Tecno has fitted RS2 with USB and power sockets for charging electronic devices. The new seat version also allows to accessorize the benches with built-in tables, lamps and stools, as effective work stations. This reversible project offers the choice of replacing seats and armrests without necessarily changing the initial installation to redesign the spatial layout to suit the demand.

RS2 presents avant-garde features in terms of materials and their combinations. This can be noticed in the use of self-skinning polyurethane foam, an aesthetically attractive and highly resistant material that is also suitable for outdoor use. It is combined with a fabric cover for seats. Eco-compatibility standards have been met by inserting aluminium, which is 90% recyclable. With the RS2 system, Tecno confirms its position as the absolute protagonist in the field of premium quality furnishings for large public spaces, offering lasting solutions that converge both design and engineering: custom-made projects with highly innovative potential, sophisticated design and keen perception of end user requirements. These traits have made Tecno a leading actor in the cultural design dialogue by merging technological research, comfort and attractive aesthetic features in its projects.
