New Tecno flagship store in Beijing

On the 16th of June, the legendary luxury design brand Tecno opens its first Chinese flagship store in the business district of Beijing: a space of 400 square metres within the COFCO Plaza, the largest furniture retail destination in the city.

The flagship store, with its sleek and elegant interiors, showcases the executive, operative and domestic ranges of the most successful furniture collections of the company, founded in the Brianza region, Italy, in 1953 by Osvaldo and Fulgenzio Borsani.

The furniture lay-outs show how past and present can be harmoniously blended.

The Archipelago D502 sofas designed by Monica Förster in 2012 are shown next to the iconic P32 chairs designed by Osvaldo Borsani in 1956, and the latest generation of Beta Duepuntozero workstations, designed by Pierandrei Associates in 2012, are next to another masterpiece designed by Osvaldo Borsani in 1961, the AT16 coat-hanger.

And there are areas where the masters of industrial design meet through their most successful pieces. The Pons D011 sofas designed by Rodolfo Dordoni in 2011 interact happily with Nomos tables, designed by Sir Norman Foster in 1986 and re-edited recently in 2013.

In Tecno’s Beijing flagship store, our Far Eastern visitors, increasingly receptive to the sophisticated designs made in Italy, will be able to appreciate what made Tecno famous in the industry, finding, even in more contemporary pieces, the leit-motives of the company's achievements: the enthusiasm for product engineering, technological research, the choice of the best materials available and excellent craftsmanship.

It is the language of design excellence, coupled with project development and the design of customised solutions such as the ones for the British Museum in London; the Agbar tower in Barcelona, and the European Parliament in Brussels, which contributed to Tecno’s high-coveted design award “Compasso d’Oro” in 1989 for long-standing achievements.
