Alis: Shaping the future
Tecno and Zaha Hadid Architects take an Ultramorphic journey towards the future, onboard a spaceship that seems from another world but it’s built around us.
This is a multifunctional structure that responds to the future ways of creating connections between humans.
A shape that draws the space around, embracing the perfection of nature.
A shape inspired by the elegance of an orchid, making us experience the future of technology.
A shape designed for humans.
This is Alis. Shaping the Future.
Tecno & Zaha Hadid Architects
From the collaboration between Tecno and Zaha Hadid Architects it is born ALIS, a mobile pod conceived to increase and facilitate team working.
Alis redefines the concept of social interaction with an innovative and unique pod, a space for limitless connectivity. Responding to new requirements of contemporary meeting spaces, Alis is designed to enhance collaboration and cooperation. It creates a space for the future, where flexibility and comfort are complemented by advanced information technology zones.
Alis at 17th Venice Architecture Biennale
Alis unveils itself as a world premiere in the Giardino delle Vergine at the Arsenale in Venice, the home of the Italian Pavilion in the occasion of the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale: an innovative space for physical and digital connectivity within which will be presented the masterplan “Unicorn Island” in response to the “Resilient Communities” theme of this year’s Italian Pavilion, curated by Alessandro Melis.
The “Unicorn Island” project, currently under construction in Chengdu, is a masterplan project. It is a proactive response to the growing demand for smarter, greener and more sustainable urban developments and communities.
Fluid forms of an orchid
Alis is inspired by the organic forms of an orchid, with petals enveloping the ceiling and walls of a glass cube measuring nearly six meters in length.
These fluid forms of the petals provide transparency, allowing light to pass through, while at the same time elegantly ensuring privacy for those inside.
Multi functional structure
Alis redefines the concept of social interaction with an innovative and unique pod, a space for limitless connectivity. Responding to new requirements of contemporary meeting spaces, it is designed to enhance collaboration and cooperation.
Alis creates a space for the future, where flexibility and comfort are complemented by advanced information technology zones.
A mobile space to meet and interact, it can be installed in a diversity of settings: indoor and outdoor, offices and commercial spaces, as well as civic and communal settings such as stations and airports. Alis can be fully customised based on the requirements of its users.
Alis is constructed to the highest standards with exacting digital manufacturing techniques including 3D printing and CAD/CAM tooling that have been perfected by Zaha Hadid Architects and Tecno.
The modular design enables the pod to be easily disassembled, transported, repurposed and re-used in different configurations for alternative functions. Each element of the pod is integral to its circular design cycle that ensures long-life durability and minimal waste with components that can be recycled or upcycled into second life applications.
From its bespoke panelling system to its floor and ceiling that discreetly conceal most electronic and mechanical installations within a cohesive design inspired by nature, Alis represents the future of collaboration: a place to meet and connect that is highly flexible and identifiable.
